Bush not a "likeable guy"--everyday analogies
Monday, September 27, 2004
I started a thread about this over at Kos, but wanted to be able to collect responses somewhere that didn't require an account. So take a look at the ideas over there, and post your own thoughts here.
W is for Women because...
...because there's nothing we love more than a man who won't admit when he's wrong!(My husband just made this into a bumper sticker, by the way.)
I've been thinking about the whole "nice, regular guy" thing that Bush supposedly has going for him, and how to counter it. Thinking back to the "security mom" theme, and how, it would feel anything but secure to be married to a guy who acts like this in day to day life. He......flips off other drivers when you and the kids are in the car
...buys you presents with the kids' college moneyHere are some of the ideas that were submitted:
He buys himself and his drinking buddies toys with you kid's college money, Lies to you about where he's going and why,
Takes out a life insurance policy on you without telling you,
P*sses on the neighbor's geraniums,
Speeds the wrong way down a one-way street,
Randomly shoots big guns in a residential area just 'cuz he can, and laughs when he scares the children.
by mataliandy
Picks fights with the guy across the room, just 'cause he looked at him funny, and "Honest, I thought he had a knife."Calls you names and makes fun of you or your friends whenever either disagree with him.
Won't stop hanging out with that creep "who is always getting him into trouble" just because they "go way back."
Annoys the neighbors with his disturbances, but doesn't care because he doesn't need a "permission slip" from them to party/use powertools at night/park on their lawn.

And, just an FYI, but be sure to check out the latest update of Resources for the Grassroots for a selection of printable materials. If I'm missing anything good that you know about, please let me know.

| vig rx July 26, 2005 11:29 AM PDT I always knew governments throughout history have lied. I always knew that the majority of people in the world were stupid and easily misled into things that were disasters. I always knew most countries didn't have the right of free speech. What I didn't realize until recently is that all of these things also apply to the USA. | ||
| extenze July 6, 2005 12:32 AM PDT I agree. Bush is not a likable guy. I never did care for people that lied to me. He either lied about the reason why we went to war or is lying about the fact that he says the war was not a mistake. | ||
| Extagen No June 10, 2005 12:37 PM PDT I agree...bush is not a likeable guy. In fact I downright hate him. Think about the long term problems he has created with the military. Nobody wants to join the army or the reserves anymore. That is not likely to change for at leat 5-10 years. The draft is political suicide so that leaves only one other choice....we have to dramatically raise the pay rates of those in the military. The fed is already 45 trillion in debt. We could have spent that money a better way. | ||
| RH in SF October 2, 2004 05:28 PM PDT Renee -- very interesting strategy, as always. ... What we need to be doing right now is lasar-targeting initiatoves like this to the correct org who can pull them off, like right now. THIS could be the basis for a TV ad, and the group that would do it is truthandhope.org Please contact Eugene and see what he thinks... This fits into the ATTACK OR LOSE ad series for the last few weeks. http://www.AttackorLose.com ALSO: for the Oct 13 Debate watching houseparties, GOTV 'one-sheets' and flyers will be made avail either by printout, or by instructing people to go to the DOWNLOADABLES page at WinOverSwingVoters.com http://www.WinOverSwingVoters.com seems to me that breaking up that page inot targeted demographic groups would be useful. Let me know if you have seen this message please. rh+ | ||
| left coast jane September 27, 2004 05:06 PM PDT Malaysia's Abdullah Says Islamic Nations Should Rebuild Iraq Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Islamic nations, including Malaysia, need to help rebuild Iraq, a civilization that was once a symbol of Islam's greatness. ``Iraq is a country that has a special resonance for Muslims around the world,'' Abdullah said in a speech at the annual general assembly of the United Malays National Organization, or Umno, the country's largest political party. ``It is therefore our duty, together with other Islamic nations, to play an active role in the reconstruction of Iraq. If other Muslim nations do not do so, Iraq will be rebuilt in the mould and under the influence of others.'' Malaysia, which opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, has said it is willing to provide humanitarian assistance for Iraq's reconstruction. It won't contribute troops to a Muslim force in Iraq proposed by Saudi Arabia in July. Last month, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said a Muslim security force for Iraq that has the backing of Iraq's interim government won't happen unless the U.S. withdraws from the country. ``We support that the post-invasion reconstruction of Iraq takes place under the supervision of the United Nations,'' Abdullah said. ``We will actively assist efforts undertaken by the UN to rehabilitate Iraq.'' Abdullah will be officially endorsed as president of Umno at the annual meeting this week after assuming the post left vacant with the retirement of Mahathir late last year. The prime minister was speaking at the party's first general assembly in Kuala Lumpur after leading the Barisan Nasional coalition to victory in March general elections. War on Terrorism The UN must be ``more representative of current realities'' and be given a key role in fighting the war on terrorism, Abdullah said. ``There is unease around the world that a single country dominates all the military, economic, political and cultural dimensions of power.'' Malaysia, which is the current chair of the Organization for Islamic Conference, or OIC, and the Non-Aligned Movement, wants the OIC to counter rising global prejudice against Muslims, Abdullah said. ``The international community must stop equating Islam with violence, poverty and indignity,'' he said. Muslims must reject violence against innocent victims, which is wrongly justified by the Muslim term of ``jihad,'' Abdullah told the conference. | Name September 27, 2004 03:09 PM PDT You mean that someone whose idea of campaigning runs the gamut from falacy to ridicule isn't a nice guy? I won't feel secure until I can look to my government to act in MY best interest; not the interests of their special interests. Interesting, isn't it? No, Bush isn't a nice guy, and there is a trail of bodies, poverty, and ignorance in his wake. I don't think America signed on for a holy war, Bush's personal crusade against the infidels. I am insecure because I live in a nation where people freely vote against their own best interests, because they don't know the facts about what they are voting for. Nov. 2nd can't come too soon. All you new voters, occasional voters, and righteous indignators, get ye to the polls on time. | ||
| left coast jane September 27, 2004 02:12 PM PDT LOOK!!! It seems to me that the following story [that I read at Bloomberg/Asia] should be being trumpeted from the rooftops! It might well be the light at the end of a very dismal tunnel, and I didn't read it anywhere else. The Islamic leaders from elsewhere are stepping up, and we should be acknowledging it and throwing it in Bush's face!!! http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000080&sid=aAFByWrbNMVs&refer=asia# Malaysia's Abdullah Says Islamic Nations Should Rebuild Iraq Sept.
